چکیده
This paper studies the value of communicated motion predictions in longitudinal control connected automated vehicles (CAVs). We focus on a safe cooperative adaptive cruise (CACC) design and analyze vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication presence uncertain front vehicle acceleration. The interest CACC is motivated by potential improvement energy consumption road throughput. In order to quantify this potential, we characterize experimentally relationship between inter-vehicular gap, speed, (reduction of) for compact plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. resulting model leveraged show efficacy our design, which pursues small inter-vehicle gaps consecutive CAVs and, therefore, improved efficiency. Our proposed based robust predictive framework systematically account system uncertainties. present set thorough simulations aimed at quantifying efficiency when states exchanged via V2V are used law.

An adaptive cruise control for connected energy-saving electric vehicles
We present an energy-saving cooperative adaptive cruise control (eco-CACC), which minimizes the energy consumption of autonomous electric vehicles. The approach leverages a trajectory preview from the preceding vehicle, and conciliates inter-vehicular distance reduction and speed profile smoothing. The problem is tackled with a nonlinear MPC approach. Rather than tracking a reference trajectory...
متن کاملScalable Beaconing for Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control
Over the past two hundred years, automotive technology has evolved from mechanised horse carriage to high-tech systems which pack more computing power than the entire space program that put Neil Armstrong on the moon. Hand-in-hand with this evolution came a proliferation of ownership and use of cars. This enormous success causes one of modern society’s largest problems: where many vehicles accu...
متن کاملAutomated Merging in a Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) System
Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) is a form of cruise control in which a vehicle maintains a constant headway to its preceding vehicle using radar and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication. Within the Connect & Drive1 project we have implemented and tested a prototype of such a system, with IEEE 802.11p as the enabling communication technology. In this paper we present an extension of...
متن کاملPlatoon management with cooperative adaptive cruise control enabled by VANET
Previous studies have shown the ability of vehicle platooning to improve highway safety and throughput. With Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) and Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) system, vehicle platooning with small headway becomes feasible. In this paper, we developed a platoon management protocol for CACC vehicles based on wireless communication through VANET. This protocol include...
متن کاملSimulation and Analysis of Mixed Adaptive Cruise Control / Manual Traffic
Semi-automated vehicles, such as Adaptive (Intelligent) Cruise Control (ACC) Vehicles, with the capability to follow each other in the same lane, will coexist with manually driven vehicles on the existing roadway system before they become universal. This mixed fleet scenario creates new capacity and safety issues. In this paper, simulation results of various mixed fleet scenarios are presented....
